After living as a Jewish refugee for sixty years, Maria Altmann, returns back to Vienna, the city she had to leave during the Second World War. She aims to regain the Gustav Klimt painting, which was a portrait of her aunt, plundered by the Nazis during the war. She finds herself in a hard struggle with the Austrian government, and simultaneously starts to uncover many secrets from her past, together with the truths about her family. The film is inspired by Klimt's painting titled "Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I", and premiered in 2015 at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival.
